A Summer Afternoon at Achensee

When the sun shines on the Achensee promenade, the lake becomes alive. Families stroll along the water, hikers return from the mountains, and tourists stop for a sweet break. From behind the counter at Der Süße Stopp, I have a front-row seat to these little moments of life.

What I see each day is more than cones and cups. It’s a father teaching his child how to lick ice cream before it melts. It’s a couple who share one cone, laughing when it drips on their hands. It’s guests who return summer after summer, remembering not just the ice cream but the feeling they had when they first stood here.

These scenes remind me why I do this work. Running a shop is not always easy — there are long days, heavy deliveries, and machines that need attention. But when I look out and see a child’s smile or hear a guest say, “This is the best stop of our trip,” I know it’s worth it.

Ice cream melts quickly, but the memory of that taste and moment lasts. That’s what Der Süße Stopp is really about.
